Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun Meets with Arab League Secretary-General Moussa

On March 10, 2011, visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

Zhai said the situation in the Mideast has undergone drastic changes these days, drawing a lot of attention from the international community including China. China maintains good relations with all Arab countries and hopes relevant countries can return to peace and stability as soon as possible, and will use peaceful ways to solve the political crisis so that more deaths or injuries can be avoided, Zhai said. The international community and the Mideast countries should all play a constructive role in stabilizing the regional situation, he said.

Zhai also praised Moussa's positive contribution to promoting relations between China and the Arab world. Zhai expressed hope that Moussa will continue to care for the development of the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum to promote and deepen the friendly cooperation between China and the Arab world.

Moussa appreciated China's position on the situation in the Mideast. He said he will continue communicating with China on regional issues and will continue his efforts to promote China-Arab friendly cooperative relations.
