On November 21, Chinese Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei held a talk with Mohammed Hourani, Chairman of the Syrian Arab Writers Union and other members.

Shi Hongwei congratulated the Syrian Arab Writers Union for joining the China-Arab Think Tank Alliance, promoted the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and China's efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, stressed that China is determined to promote Chinese-style modernization and will inject more stability and development momentum into the world through its own development. His Excellency expressed his willingness to work with the Syrian Arab Writers Union and other think tanks to provide intellectual support for enriching the connotation of the China-Syria strategic partnership.

The Syrian side said that the Syrian cultural and strategic circles paid close attention to President Xi Jinping's important speeches at international arenas such as APEC, fully agreed with the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, and appreciated China's efforts to mediate the Palestinian-Israeli issue, promote global development, and enhance mutual learning among civilizations. The Syrian Arab Writers Union is willing to actively participate in the translation of Classics and academic exchanges to build a bridge of Syrian-Chinese friendship.

Shi Hongwei also presented promotional materials such as "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China " to members of the board of the union.
