On October 23, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei paid courtesy call on the new Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali and exchanged views on bilateral relations and practical cooperation in various fields.

Shi Hongwei conveyed Chinese Premier Li Qiang's cordial greetings to Al-Jalali, saying that last September, President Xi Jinping held a historic meeting with President Bashar al-Assad and jointly announced the establishment of China-Syria strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Syria to continuously consolidate political mutual trust, expand and deepen cooperation in various fields, and jointly build a China-Syria community with a shared future.

Al-Jalali asked Ambassador Shi to convey his best wishes to Premier Li Qiang. He spoke highly of China for its remarkable development achievements through comprehensively deepening reform and promoting Chinese modernization, and expressed gratitude to China for its long-term selfless assistance to Syria. He stressed that Syria will adhere to the one-China principle, continue to firmly enhance relations with China, and work with China to promote the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.
