On July 13, 2026, Ambassador Shi Hongwei met with Saad Nouasa, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Syrian Transitional Government, to exchange views on strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries.

H.E. Shi Hongwei stated that China and Syria are both ancient civilizations, and the ancient Silk Road has closely connected the people of the two countries. Cultural cooperation has become an important component of China-Syria relations. China is willing to strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation with Syria, promote personnel exchanges, deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

H.E. Nouasa stated that cultural exchanges are an important bond that unites people's hearts. Both Syria and China possess long histories and profound cultural heritages, and the prospects for cultural cooperation are broad. Syria is willing to maintain close communication with China and looks forward to strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries and promoting more cooperative achievements.
