On March 10, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei met with Hamza Al-Mustafa, Minister of Information of the Syrian Transitional Government, and heads of major media outlets.

Ambassador Shi noted that friendly exchanges between China and Syria have a long history, and expressed the hope that media exchanges and cooperation between the two countries would play a positive role in enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the development of bilateral relations. He gave a detailed briefing on the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as on China's positions on the current regional situation.

Hamza stated that China has achieved tremendous development accomplishments, that cooperation between the two countries in various fields holds broad prospects, and that he is willing to facilitate media exchanges between the two sides and promote the resumption and development of media cooperation. He noted that China is a responsible major power and expressed the hope that China would play a greater role in promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
